The Hungarian Big Five Award
In order to encourage both domestic and especially foreign sportsmen and women to hunt the five big game species available, the SCI Central Hungarian Chapter has established the Hungarian Big Five Award.
The eligible hunters receive a Diploma and an artifact representing a pair of lower tusks of a Wild Boar and a medal showing the symbolic trophies of all five species, solidly mounted on a marble pedestal with the name of the hunter engraved on a brass plaque.
Criteria of eligibility: Harvesting at least one trophy of each of the following species:
Red Stag, Fallow Buck, Roebuck, Wild Boar and Mouflon Ram
The hunt of each species should take place in the hunting grounds of Hungary in a sportsmanlike fashion, following the laws, regulations and traditions of Hungarian hunting.
Applications should be sent to the Board of the Central Hungarian Chapter, either directly or preferably through supporting outfitters and consultants, like Golden Stag Hunting.
To the Application one bag photo of each trophy with date, place and outfitter/guide should be attached. Either CIC or SCI score sheets are welcome, if available.
If all the five trophies are of gold medal level, a special Gold Award can be applied for. This award has a distinctive gold plated medal.
Fees to be paid are: € 500 for an Award, and €1000 for a Gold Award. The funds generated above the artist’s cost will be used in conservation and education programs of the Chapter. For certain long serving and contributing chapter members the Board may waive the fee.
Decision on the Application is made by an ad-hoc committee of the Chapter Board.
